I get the best requests...

Man, long time no blog, huh? Things have been crazy! This is my first holiday season with my own business, so I had no idea what to expect. I got some pretty incredible features on Facebook, Etsy, and some blogs, so a lot of people are seeing my work! I'm getting some really great responses, and really great requests for things! I'm in the process of doing some drawings for jewelry with sea otters, shark, beluga whale, platypus, happy cupcakes, happy rolling pin, buffalo, and manatee!! So awesome!! I also got a request for a teeeeeny tiny sloth. He's only a half inch long...I wasn't even sure I could do it. But look!!

He came out so so cute I think! I want to have a whole bunch of 'em climbing on there! I also want to make a family where they're hanging on each others backs, hehehe.

I'll do some show and tell once I get some of these projects underway.
Here's a necklace I did a little while ago...happy muffins!

More to come!!

New pinwheels!

I've been working on some new pinwheel patterns! The first ones are the traditional, the next ones are kind of floralish looking, and the last is like an "x". The new ones spin really well too! I'm excited, and I think they have a lot of potential.
Floral pinwheel earrings!
Plus, I made a little bowl for the whisk!

Deeeelish!

This is what I see whenever my cats sit like this...roast turkeys! Yum!
I know what you're thinking..."how did she get Photoshop skillz like that?!" Don't be jealous friend.

P.S.

Today I made a tiny whisk. It is 1" long.

Things that I love...

Mecha-lion and friend!Tiny teapot made from an old wheat penny! It's jail art!
Once on antiques roadshow (heart) I saw a sweet piece of jail art. Someone had carved a whole bunch of peach pits to look like monkeys! If I remember correctly, the monkeys were gambling!
Found it! Monkeys!
Enjoy!

Abacus!

Here's a little abacus necklace that I made today! It's sterling silver with garnet beads. I'll be making more, with different beads, in different sizes. I think earrings will be cute too! They'll be in the shop this week!
No sales yet, but I'm trying to stay positive, and be patient. All in good time!

Moving forward

Well, my shop is up! It's a little bit scary, but also exciting! I'm learning so much! I have lots to do between taking photographs, posting pieces, making new pieces, ordering stuff, and on and on! But I'm doing it, and it feels good! Wish me luck!

No one puts Tilly in the corner!

Sometimes when I'm working in the studio with the door closed, I'll look over and see just a furry arm poking out from under the door. This is Tilly. She likes to "help" in the studio, especially with beads.

Also, this is pretty awesome! Alllll aboard!!!
Tilly, Sprocket, and Taco!

I got a fever! The only cure is...

No, not more cowbell. Though sometimes that does help!
It's mechanisms. Simple and beautiful. Cams and gears, pulleys and cranks. Since I have the opportunity to make work again, the fever has hit hard. I started making small working pinwheels. Fun and simple. Then I found Gary Schott's work. It brought me back to the last couple pieces I made in school, where I had just started to explore incorporating mechanisms in my jewelry. Since school ended, I haven't really made any of my stuff. Now I have the opportunity, and I feel like I need to take advantage of it!
Today I put together my Timber Kit. It's called "Ocean Motion".
Well, it's not all the way together yet, but you get the idea. It's pretty sweet. The video is a little oddish. It's hard to film and crank at the same time. That's what she said! Anyway...

Here are some things I have in process:

Nothing too fancy. It's a good start though. Hopefully I'll have a little shop up soon! Stay tuned!
